THE TRIANGLE

The universal symbolism of the Triangle is found in all traditions and represents the return to primordial unity.

The equilateral triangle is associated with divinity, harmony, proportion. In Christianity it is the symbol of the trinity, while in Eastern civilizations it represents, when the vertex is at the bottom, the feminine, while with the vertex at the top, the masculine.

At the same time the triangle also represents the mind, body and spirit of the one who must learn how to achieve a balanced union in all its "parts".

This form, therefore, is linked to the various symbols of the ternary.

It therefore recalls the idea of man's asceticism towards divine transcendence, the Universal. It is the microcosm rising towards the macrocosm and vice versa.

According to the peculiar alchemical interpretation, in the order of the closed figures, this shape is placed between the Circle and the Square , from which it can be deduced that it represents an intermediate entity between the almost abstract, or spiritual, substance and the matter which instead falls under our senses.

The graphical representation of the 4 elements

The four elements are represented by means of the equilateral triangle: the equilateral triangle with the vertex up is a symbol of fire, if crossed by a horizontal line it becomes a symbol of air, the triangle with the vertex down is a symbol of water, while if with a horizontal dash it becomes a symbol of mother earth.

The conjunction of two equilateral triangles (one with the vertex down and one with the vertex up) gives rise to Solomon's seal which indicates all the elements of the universe (earth, water, fire, air) with the spirit at the center of the drawing represented by the void.
